Trip Report: The Extraordinary Healing Power of Psilocybin: A Journey into the Heart of Being

A few days ago, I experienced something that words can only begin to touch. The memories and emotions still linger and are close. I want to keep them close, to remember the bliss and the heart opening, the deep connection to Source. They shimmer very near to the surface, still tender, but radiant, unforgettable.   With the support of psilocybin, I embarked on a journey that cracked open my heart, and then, ultimately healed it. My mother had just died a week before, I felt fragile, worn out from the experience of being with her in the final days of her life and witnessing her take her last breath.   This journey came with an unexpected gift, a renewed love for music. The playlists (thank you, Tove) became more than just the soundtrack, they were lifelines. Carried on a river of silk, the music gently undulated through me, tenderly holding me, guiding me from one intimate immersion to the next.   My body also felt the urge to undulate, I found myself rising from my settee on occasion, swept up in the urge to dance or simply exhale. Blessed moments.   A Sacred Pause: Integration and Inner Listening   Now, in solitude, I am integrating. It is a humbling experience, a quiet time to reflect, to let go of expectations and simply be. It has been a gift.   In this space, I’m writing, thinking, sitting in stillness. Peace is all around me. The forest is thick. The water is ice, silent. The only sound is birdsong, reminding me that I am not alone.   This gift of stillness is perhaps the most underestimated part of psychedelic healing: the pause that follows. It’s here, in this silence, that insights settle and truth begins to take root.     A Shift in Consciousness: Maturity Through Medicine   As I reflect, one word rises up: maturity.   I feel as though I have reached a new level of consciousness, one that might otherwise take a lifetime to approach. How is it that this Earth-born medicine can deliver a transformational journey of a lifetime in one 10-hour session? What medicine allows you to do this?   Psilocybin allows the wisdom of the Earth to move through your body, into your bloodstream, into your brain, becomes the air that you breathe.     Then as breath, back out into the universe, molecules of you, floating on water droplets in the exhalation….   It slows time. It softens the sharp edges of the world, offering a safe place to pose a question, to meet a pain, to see with new eyes. It doesn’t fix the problem for you, but it helps you become better at facing it.   The Tender Truth of Psychedelic Expansion   What I experienced wasn’t simply a high, it was an expansion that stems so fully from your core, your heart, until you are lovingly laid bare. There is a rawness to it. A deep vulnerability. And yet, you are held.   It’s like being turned inside out and realizing you are safe there. A soft pillow for the parts of you that are most defenceless.   The Medicine of Presence   This medicine reminds us of our humanity, not just the bright, joyful parts, but the whole, aching, breathing, luminous truth of being alive. It reminds us that healing is not always loud. Sometimes it whispers. Sometimes it arrives as stillness, as music, as tears, as the sudden realization that you are enough, just as you are.   If you’re called to this path, do not take it lightly, but do not fear it either.   It is, quite simply, a return to the sacred. Intimate, deeply personal, profound.   Visit my site to learn more about psychedelics for healing Join my mailing list to get new posts in your inbox. iNourish: Unveiling the power of Functional Nutrition

iNourish: Unveiling the Power of Functional Nutrition   In the rapidly growing space of health and wellness, where dietary trends come and go like fashion fads, a revolutionary approach has emerged, promising not just a quick fix but profound personal health transformation. Welcome to the world of Functional Nutrition, a paradigm shift that views food as more than just fuel, but as a powerful influencer in optimizing your health and well-being.     At its core, Functional Nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all solution; rather, it’s a personalized approach that recognizes the unique bio-individuality of each person. Unlike conventional nutritional philosophies that prescribe generic meal plans and calorie counting, Functional Nutrition delves deep into the intricacies of the physiology of our bodies, addressing the root causes of imbalances. This is where it gets exciting.   Functional Nutrition operates on the belief that our health is a complex web of interconnected factors. It considers not only what we eat but how our bodies respond to food and what our bodies can absorb. This holistic perspective encompasses lifestyle, genetics, environment, and individual metabolic processes. It’s a departure from the reductionist view, understanding that true well-being lies in the harmony of all these elements.   The Pillars of Functional Nutrition Personalized Approach One of the key tenets of Functional Nutrition is personalization. Recognizing that everyone is unique, it tailors nutritional recommendations based on an individual’s specific needs, goals, and even genetic predispositions. This means no more generic diets, instead, a made-to-measure plan that addresses your body’s distinct requirements.   Root Cause Resolution Rather than merely treating symptoms, as in Allopathic Medicine, Functional Nutrition seeks to identify and address the root causes of health issues. For example, if someone is experiencing digestive problems, rather than simply providing a quick fix, like an antacid or PPI (proton pump inhibitor drug) Functional Nutrition looks at the overall gut health, potential food sensitivities, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to the issue.     Food as Medicine Functional Nutrition harnesses the therapeutic power of food. Nutrient-dense, whole foods become the cornerstone of this approach, providing the essential building blocks for optimal health. From supporting immune function to promoting hormonal balance, every bite becomes an opportunity to nourish and heal. You will learn how to target your efforts towards achievable goals, incrementally and within your capacity.   How Functional Nutrition Optimizes Your Health Improved Gut Health Functional Nutrition places a significant emphasis on gut health, recognizing it as a central player in overall well-being. By addressing issues such as leaky gut, dysbiosis, or inflammation, Functional Nutrition can positively impact digestion, nutrient absorption, and even mental health. It is the starting point for the journey, up to 85% of chronic health issues improve when gut health is improved.   Balanced Hormones Hormonal imbalances can wreak havoc on our health, men and women alike, affecting everything from energy levels, restful sleep to mood. Functional Nutrition considers the endocrine system and aims to balance hormones through targeted nutritional interventions, promoting stability and equilibrium.   Enhanced Energy and Vitality By providing the body with the right nutrients it needs, Functional Nutrition can unlock a new level of energy and vitality. Forget the afternoon slumps and imagine a consistent, sustainable energy that powers you steadily through the day. You can feel energized all day long.   Sustainable Weight Management Functional Nutrition is not about quick fixes, calorie counting or restrictive diets; it’s about creating a sustainable and balanced relationship with food. When you understand the mechanisms by which you are nourished, it brings you personal agency and can increase your confidence and motivate you to make life-long beneficial changes.   You become curious about new foods and are open to experimentation and trying new things. You become more aware of how you feel after you eat.   Embrace the Functional Nutrition Journey In a world inundated with conflicting nutritional advice, Functional Nutrition stands out as a beacon of clarity, offering a roadmap to optimal health that is as unique as you are.   By embracing the personalized, holistic, and root cause-focused principles of Functional Nutrition, you can unlock the transformative power of food and embark on a journey towards a healthier, more vibrant you. Are you ready to revolutionize your relationship with food?   Your Functional Nutrition journey awaits. And I can help you. The Science of Spirituality

The Science of Spirituality   Living as a spiritually awakening person in Western society has been one of the most profound and challenging experiences of my life. I’ve faced many trials before, but none have transformed me so completely or called me to live with such depth, presence, and courage.   I didn’t expect awakening to feel so disorienting. When your inner reality shifts, the outer world appears almost unfamiliar. Everything is re-contextualized, your values, your relationships, even the way you see time and truth. The veil lifts, and suddenly you’re living in a world that few others around you seem to recognize. It’s beautiful and bewildering all at once.   The most difficult part of this transition has been navigating relationships. On one hand, making new connections is easier than ever. I feel more compassionate, more present, and more open to learning from others. I’m drawn to spiritually awake or awakening souls, people with whom I can have real, soul-nourishing conversations about the nature of existence, healing, and life purpose.   At the same time, old relationships, especially with family or long-standing friends, have often become strained. Early on, I believed those closest to me would understand what was happening to me. I assumed they would be curious, supportive, or at least open-minded. But awakening isn’t contagious like that. It’s deeply personal and often invisible to others. I quickly learned that most people are not yet ready to see what I now see, and maybe they never will.   At first, this hurt. I didn’t yet understand the inner workings of the mind, the unconscious patterns behind behaviour, or how deeply conditioned we all are, myself, included. But as I studied the mind and observed my own reactions, and those of others, I developed a kind of compassionate x-ray vision. I began to see the pain behind defensiveness, the fear behind control, the longing beneath the masks we wear. It was humbling. And healing.   If you have relationships that feel draining, are chaotic, or full of friction, I gently encourage you to pause and examine what’s really happening. Not from a place of judgment, but from a place of loving observation. Good science begins with curiosity, and you, yourself, are the best subject you’ll ever study.   As I was delving into neuroscience and many coaching techniques, a mentor suggested I become my own first client. So I did, and it was illuminating, and again, very healing.   I asked: What is motivating this dynamic between myself and this person? What does my body feel like around this person? Tension, dread, anxiety, anger, these are not trivial sensations. They are signals.   Conversely, notice who makes you feel light, joyful, and calm. We naturally gravitate toward those who lift us, who reflect back the wholeness we’re stepping into. That’s not selfish, it’s soul-guided. Not all relationships are meant to last forever. Some are simply chapters. Some are lessons. And some must be lovingly released.   One of the hardest but most liberating truths I’ve learned is this: no one is entitled to your energy simply because of shared history or shared blood. Love does not require self-abandonment. A wise teacher once told me, “Some people must be cut from your life like a cancer, or they will consume you.” That was not said with cruelty, but with deep compassion for the sacredness of one’s path.   And yet, I hold great tenderness in my heart for those who are not yet awake. We are all on our own timelines, and awakening cannot be forced. It’s not about superiority, it’s about remembering who we truly are. I now see un-awakened people not as “others,” but as future allies, walking their own necessary steps through the fog. I’ve been there too. We all have.   That’s why I feel so grateful to be awake now, in this time of global upheaval and transition. There is so much suffering in the collective field, but also so much potential for transformation. I feel I was given this awakening not just for myself, but so I can help others cross the threshold when they are ready. So, I can be a lighthouse in the storm. I knew this the same day I experienced my first profound transformation with sacred plant medicine, I knew I had found my calling.   Discerning authentic connection from superficial interactions has become both a spiritual practice and a kind of joyful experiment. I use life as my laboratory. Relationships as my curriculum. And every interaction, every trigger, every goodbye becomes another opportunity to practice presence, compassion, and love.   Awakening has brought challenges, yes. But it has also brought awe. It has brought gratitude, and a fierce devotion to being of service in this tender, extraordinary time on Earth.   If this speaks to your heart, stay tuned, I’ll be sharing more reflections on the wonder, mystery, and transformation that awakening continues to bring.   If you’d like to receive more posts like this directly to your inbox, leave your email below and walk this path with me. We’re all waking up together.   https://boodeful.com/contact/

What is Spiritual Awakening?

What is Spiritual Awakening?   I have always been interested in the written word. I LOVE writing, literature, non-fiction mostly, poetry, theatre, even spoken word, you name it, I’ve been enamoured since I was a little girl. I’m a life-long journal writer and I read voraciously. I practically fell in love with every English teacher I ever had, especially if they were passionate about what they did.   When I write about spiritual awakening, however, I find myself at a loss for words.    The very nature of “it” is ineffable, esoteric to the core. Thousands of spiritual teachers, Gurus, Monks and seekers have been trying to explain it for centuries and many of them have been successful in evoking the feeling and the meaning of what it is, giving us a beautiful picture of the wonder and awe of it. I am so thankful for their words of wisdom.   But words cannot really explain accurately, what exists outside of language. It’s like trying to teach a toddler calculus. There’s no common ground, no starting point that you can reference and expand upon. It does not compute for the tot. They have no concept that something called calculus exists, they just look at you and then go find something to play with that they can understand. You can’t even start with one plus one because that’s beyond their comprehension, too.   So, this is what tends to happen to me when I try to describe spiritual awakening to someone who has no prior metaphysical understanding of the world.   What is absent is the understanding with which to comprehend the concept of non-duality, self-transcendence , self-actualization or enlightenment.   Early in my awakening, in my eagerness to learn more, I would often engage people in conversations about the existential nature of reality. I was so very curious.  But I would often get blank stares……silence…..crickets.    How does one describe the infinite oneness of the universe to someone who has only ever believed that they were separate from it? How do I explain that we are all consciousness itself, that we are all one and the same thing when everyone thinks they are unique and couldn’t possibly be the same as their neighbour, or their enemy?    So, although it is very difficult to explain spiritual awakening, I love to try, because it is my Dharma to help others awaken so that we all may live in a world filled with infinite love instead of infinite suffering. It has been a huge life lesson for me in cultivating compassion, and for meeting people where they are.   During my awakening, my 3rd eye opened, my Ajna chakra was activated, and things became known to me. I can’t really explain it any other way. They are known as “downloads”.   I became aware of the mechanisms that drove me, pre-awakening, which I lovingly call my sleep-walking years. I understood so much more about life, death, society and humanity, and many things that once perplexed me, became crystal clear.    I truly understand what love is now, the true meaning of Love. Not the romantic kind of love you would feel for a partner or spouse, nor even the deep, caring kind of love you feel for your child, if you can imagine that. This is a total, soulful love that is infinite, a love without limits, an unconditional love that fills you completely and expands you to infinite heights and depths of being.   What came over me was this amazing sense of having discovered a part of myself, a very intimate and beautiful part, that I never knew existed. In actuality, I became a different person, I have a completely different perspective on reality. It’s delicious and sweet and exciting beyond measure.   A huge percentage of people living in the world today, believe deeply in a materialist, scientific, rational paradigm, as I did I. I was unaware that there were other paradigms, unaware that this one I held as the “truth” was actually very far from the Truth, and conversely, it was actually a very limited way of looking at the world. I was shocked into a new perspective, shocked by how much I didn’t know before, and I was so thankful for this gift of sudden awareness!   In the West, we are programmed to desire things from a very early age. We are convinced that to be happy, we should want to live in a nice house and drive a cool car, we should want to achieve success, we should want to acquire wealth and possessions. These outward “signs” of success.   We are fed this ideology through every possible avenue of distribution since birth. We absorb it from our culture, our parents, our religious leaders, our schoolteachers, our professors, our media outlets, our friends, our entertainment. This becomes our reality, and it seems so convincingly real that we never question it, unless we find ourselves unhappy despite having it all, as happens so often in our society. This was my experience.   Most people NEVER question this reality, and really, why would you? It’s like being a fish in a tank, the fish doesn’t notice it’s swimming in water. That is its reality. It doesn’t know that there’s something called “air” outside the tank, the fish doesn’t even know air or earth are things that exist.   This is the kind of feeling you have when you awaken, you get to peer outside of the tank and witness a whole other universe that you heretofore, were completely unaware of. It’s mind-bending.   It’s so completely foreign and yet so absolutely perfect and natural. It’s the biggest A-Ha moment you will ever experience. You come to know that what you thought was “real” is actually not, and you see that there is so much more to life than what you have been taught.   Much, much more.   Spiritual awakening is a catalyst for profound positive change in your life. I have a deep desire now to live

Trip Report: Psilocybin Tea

It’s the new moon in Pisces today, March 13, 2021. This new moon energy brings with it the potent opportunity for healing and for setting goals and toning for the weeks and months ahead. This new moon, in particular, is also influenced by Neptune, and Neptune’s influence is BIG. It is the purveyor of imagination, inspiration, vision, faith and belief.   Messages and messengers are important this month, as is communication with others. Friends and allies may come from unexpected places to help and support you and give the beneficial green light or help you get to where you need to go.   Venus is also involved, and Venus is the Goddess of good fortune, and in conjunct with Neptune brings with it a sense of dreams coming true.   I mention these astrological alignments because it feels like my dreams are, indeed, coming true. I am feeling optimistic and hopeful. I feel the magic of this time permeating into my being on every level. Although the energy can have a whimsical nature, I am also feeling a profound sense of being at the right place, at the right time, and that things are unfolding for me as nature and karma intended.   I recently embarked on a further journey to deepen my understanding of working with medicinal plants and have been certified by Being True To You as a Transformational Addiction Recovery and Entheogenic Integration Coach.   SO, in the spirit of healing using sacred plants, I decided today would be an auspicious day for me to do my own journey of transformation and healing. I prepared a tea using 4 grams of mushrooms and sipped it in ceremony, with intention and reverence.   My focus going inwards today was twofold; for healing and to spark creativity. What I have learned from experience is that the insights and gifts from using these sacred plants, are rarely what you expect and yet, almost always, exactly what you need. They have a magical adaptogenic quality of getting to the heart of the very issues you may be feeling need some clarity, sometimes without you even being aware of them going in.   Today, I was blessed to have had a huge dose of both healing and creativity.   Physically, I am in a period of deep detoxification and nutritional infusion. I have given up sugar in all its forms, corn in all its forms, wheat, alcohol and marijuana and all acid-forming foods & substances. I am on a plant-based alkaline diet.  It has only been 10 months and I feel re-born!   I feel as alive as the food I use to nourish my body at a molecular level. The phrase “you are what you eat” came full frontal into my awareness today. How vital it is to realize that my health is directly related to what I do to cultivate and nurture it. What a gift it is to realize that without health, life itself loses its vitality. This message was so clear and simple, and this detoxification path was acknowledged as being the best thing for me right now.   Emotionally, I wept today for the first time in years (yes, years). Tears of sadness flowed for my family & friends who suffer from dis-ease, and I cried for the state of the world and the state of fear that our society is now drenched in.   But mostly the tears that flowed were tears of deep gratitude.   Gratitude for the clarity and awareness that working with plant medicine brings.   Gratitude for the joy that my relationships bring.   Gratitude for the wisdom and lessons from my ancestors who have passed on. In particular, my maternal grandparents and my sister-in-law, Johanne, who died when she was 44.   Their spirits recently made “appearances” in my life, and I was reminded of the lessons they taught me but had not realized until today. Johanne taught me to lead with my heart, her kindness and sheer love of life and her family shone so brightly and continues to influence me. I got the message to let my heart be the larger part of making decisions, not just my mind alone.   My maternal grandparents were kind and generous people. They gave us unconditional love, financial support and opened their home to my Mom, my siblings and I, when my parents divorced. Today they reminded me that their support continues to this day, I need only to tap into it, through my heart, to feel it. I felt intense gratitude for their support.   I also visited my Father and my Stepmom this morning, they are still living, but aged. I felt a strong need to see them and felt that this day would be a good time because of the healing energy which I hoped to impart to them, I was feeling very energized all morning. Another part of this Pisces new moon energy is saying goodbye to the past and letting go, and through this experience with the sacred plants today I was able to finally see much more clearly how I needed to be letting go.   You see I am a nurturer by nature, a Taurus and my desire to help and heal is very foundational to my being, it is why I am drawn to Holistic Health and Functional Medicine.   Today, after spending time with them and witnessing their suffering from chronic health conditions, I was able to finally let go of thinking that I needed to help them.   I realized that they can and will make their own decisions for themselves which will deliver them to their destiny, whatever that may be. I let go of the thoughts in my mind but held tightly to the deep love and cherished memories of the time we’ve spent together. Memories, as I explained to my father this morning, live forever because they are not bound by the physical dimension. I will remember them
